My name is Marcus.
I push pixels, write poems and play music.
Take a look at some of my work. Click here for more.
I’ve been doing web design since 1999. What started as a hobby has grown into a vital part of my work. I design and manage WordPress and HTML sites that are mobile-friendly and clean. My knowledge of graphic design means that they will look professional, as well.
I take pride in my work and the relationships I’ve kept with my clients. I’ll work with you to create a design that you can be proud of, as well!
Shooting and editing video is one my passions, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with amazing clients, including the Jazz Artists of Charleston, the Gibbes Museum and Komen Lowcountry.
I have five published books and have performed spoken word at many venues in the south. Poetry has been a passion of mine since high school.
Music is my first love. I’ve been recording songs since the age of 8 (!), and you can sample my work on the site. Free albums, as well!
I also have been known to eat a lot of doughnuts, bike around the city, play with Kona – the best cat in the world, listen to vinyl, take photos at Hampton Park, sing karaoke and drink champagne.
What folks are saying
Marcus Amaker was so great to work with – and to learn that he is a poet in addition to being a graphic/web designer! So cool!- Sandra Nikolajevs, Chamber Music Charleston
Damn bruh! Brilliant!!- Quentin Baxter, drummer
Love your little book! It may be small but it’s powerful. Just wanted to follow up and let you know that I got my copy last week. Have been nibbling at it night by night. It’s like chocolate cake – so good you don’t want to eat it all in one sitting. The marriage of images and words is fantastic. Thanks for such a lovely treat.- Elizabeth Beasley, copywriter
You are clearly very good at what you do and we are very lucky to have you designing + building our website. We love it … I’m noticing the little things like how you’re spacing the conceptual sketches with finished work – which is nice. The overall site works great.- Robbie Lesslie, Cumulus Architecture
“His eye for design and ear for words, plus his sublime taste and judgment, make my work very appealing. Marcus is totally unique—he’s connected to the traditions that came before him and uses them to inform his very contemporary outlook. He’s thoroughly a 21st-century guy.”- Jack McCray, jazz historian and legend
