Poetry slam at the Charleston Music Hall
March 4, 2015
Matthew Foley and I put on a big poetry show at the Charleston Music Hall on Feb. 27. It was a magical event. Lots of poets came to the gig from out of town, and it felt like an awesome family reunion of literary giants.
I’ve been enjoying staying behind the scenes more than before. I no longer feel the need to be on stage for the majority of an event. It allows me to step back and be inspired like I was when I first started doing poetry in front of people.
The whole night was inspiring. We had youth poets, and a fairly large crowd. Foley took charge of the poetry slam, and he’s a master at hosting.
Ultimately, events like the Holy City Poetry Slam prove that Charleston is ready for bigger poetry shows. Let’s do this!
I brought my camera and got some photos + video ::::
